Indian Railways: Northern railway on Saturday temporarily cancelled some trains due to heavy rain and waterlogging along the tracks of several of its routes. However, few trains have also been diverted according to the availability, informed Northern railways officials. (Indian Railways)
The cancelled trains, which were scheduled to depart from their respective stations, are Jalandhar Cantt-Hoshiarpur – Jalandhar Cantt Special JCO, Firozpur- Jalandhar Cantt – Firozpur Special JCO , Ambala -Amb Andaura- Ambala Special JCO, Diverted trains that are scheduled to depart on Saturday include Dehradun –Saharanpur, Dehradun-Amritsar, Jammu Tawi- Jodhpur Express.
It is also noted that some of the trains that are destined to start on July 16 and July 17 are also cancelled and few are diverted or terminated for a short duration.
The people who have planned to travel by train on north route can check their respective train status on the official website of Northern Railways.
The General Manager of Northern Railway informed that the railways had to stop train service as a precautionary measure in the wake of heavy rains and flood-like situation in the north regions.
General Manager of Northern Railway, Shobhan Chaudhuri said, “Rain continued to lash mountains and the rainwater come down in the plains resulting flood-like situation in the plains. The roads and tracks are submerged. so we had to halt train service as a precautionary step.”
