Goa Police exposes youth trapped in sex trap through dating app

Goa Police have successfully dismantled a deceitful gang involved in luring businessmen through dating apps, eventually cheating and extorting them. This operation implicated at least 15 women.

The modus operandi of this gang involved befriending businessmen on dating apps, establishing romantic connections, and subsequently extorting money from them. These women, targeting businessmen primarily from Gujarat visiting Goa, invited them on dates, stayed at hotels at the businessmen’s expense, and engaged in sexual encounters.

Youth trapped in Sex Trap

Upon thorough investigation, the fraudulent scheme came to light, leading to the arrest of numerous individuals by the Goa Police.

In reality, this inter-state racket of sextortion had been operating for a considerable period. Women, often identifying themselves as beauticians, formed relationships with businessmen on dating apps, arranging meetings in hotels, and then blackmailing them for large sums of money. Initial police inquiries have unveiled the involvement of at least 15 women, among whom even a lawyer is implicated.

Rs 2 Lakh demanded from the youth

In one instance, a woman reached a settlement with a businessman for Rs 2 lakh outside a police station. Two days later, the same individuals appeared at another police station, this time with the woman’s cousin posing as the victim. The beautician introduced herself as his friend and accused a contractor from Gujarat of rape. PU Lekh arrested the contractor in this case, but a similar case emerged shortly after, involving another businessman from Gujarat.

A police officer noted that these complaints shared a common pattern, and the profiles of the women involved were remarkably similar. Both the accused and the victims hailed from Gujarat, raising suspicions. Subsequent investigations unveiled that, after an agreement for Rs 2 lakh, a demand for Rs 15 lakh was made from the defrauded businessman. When he refused, he was threatened with legal action, prompting a Rs 2 lakh settlement outside the police station.
